Therapy

Adults
Therapy provides a reflective space to explore the personal, relational, and situational factors shaping mental health. Strategies support managing anxiety, stress, or emotional patterns.
Available in-person in Footscray or via telehealth Australia-wide.
Adolescents
Adolescence is a complex stage of development, marked by identity shifts, academic pressures, and social challenges. Therapy offers a safe, developmentally appropriate space for mood difficulties, anxiety, neurodivergence, family challenges, or identity shifts.
In-person sessions in Footscray. Online therapy for adolescents across Victoria.
Children (8+)
Therapy supports children navigating emotional distress, behavioural changes, school stress, or neurodevelopmental differences. Age-appropriate approaches help build regulation and resilience.
In-person in Footscray. Telehealth for parents or caregivers where clinically appropriate.

Whether you're booking for yourself or your child, you can get started here.
Telehealth
Telehealth offers a flexible, private way to access psychological support from home. Available for adults across Australia, this format provides the same quality of care as in-person therapy, with the added convenience of remote access. It may be suitable for people balancing demanding schedules, living in regional areas, or preferring the familiarity of their own space.

How Therapy Works
Therapy at Tara Psychology is compassionate, practical, and grounded in evidence. Each session is shaped around what's most useful for you, drawing from several approaches like ACT, CBT, DBT, Schema Therapy, mindfulness, parts work, and psychodynamic therapy.

About Sessions
Standard sessions are 50 minutes and offered in-person in Footscray or via telehealth. The number of sessions depends on your goals and needs. Some people attend for a short period, while others engage in longer-term work to explore deeper patterns, sustain change, or require longer-term care due to complex presentations.
You do not need a referral to get started. However, Medicare rebates may apply with a Mental Health Care Plan. See FAQs for more information.

NDIS Participants
Sessions are available for both self-managed and plan-managed clients. Support can focus on building skills, increasing confidence, and developing strategies that can be used in everyday life. Sessions are tailored to individual needs and work in collaboration with any existing NDIS supports.
See Fees and Rebates for details on session costs, rebates, and our cancellation policy.
